Job Description : Merchandising Project Manager
The Merchandising Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of activities that ensure smooth operations across product development, product launch, inventory management, and seasonal line planning. This role requires an individual with exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver on strategic merchandising objectives. Key responsibilities include :
Database Maintenance & Organization :
- Ensure all plans from the Merchandising Calendar (Merch Cal) are integrated into the Product Development and Product Launch Databases.
- Oversee the creation of task workflows and set due dates in alignment with production action dates provided by the Production Department.
- Collaborate with Product Managers to ensure final development approvals are reached prior to Purchase Orders (PO) placement to avoid production delays.
- Oversee SKU creation based on the Line Plan and ensure accurate representation in databases.
Merch Cal Management & Task Coordination :
Manage and update the Merchandising Calendar, ensuring any changes or product removals are reflected across the Product Development (PDP), Product Planning & Governance (PPG), and Go-To-Market (GTM) databases.Communicate calendar changes, including production action date updates, via Slack announcements across relevant channels.Maintain and track tasks across all relevant teams (PDP, PPG, GTM) to ensure timely and accurate completion.Run daily PPG Task Reports and collaborate with the Merchandising PM to monitor task deadlines.Advanced Notion Work & Database Integration :
Maintain and create relational properties on tasks within the Notion workspace, ensuring that the information flows seamlessly between the PDP, PPG, and GTM boards.Support the Merchandising PM in running reports and ensuring that due dates are up-to-date and accurate.Meeting & Agenda Management :
Lead weekly PPG Product Team Meetings, setting agendas, adjusting due dates, and ensuring alignment across teams.Take weekly updates from the Production and Product Teams, updating databases accordingly and flagging potential delays that may affect future due dates.Develop and maintain process flow charts in collaboration with the Project Management Team to ensure alignment on best practices.Seasonal Line Plans & Cross-Functional Coordination :
Manage and update seasonal line plans, ensuring accurate data distribution and cross-functional team alignment (Operations, Product, Wholesale).Oversee updates and adjustments to the product launch calendar throughout its lifecycle, ensuring timely execution.Product Stock & Pricing Management :
Identify and manage overstock situations, creating actionable plans to sell through excess inventory by established deadlines.Work closely with Inventory and Operations teams to facilitate timely global stock transfers and manage products going out of line (OOL).Oversee price changes, including promotions, markdowns, and full-price MSRP, ensuring proper communication across all teams and channels.Reporting & Analysis :
Prepare weekly sales performance reports in collaboration with the Director of Merchandising, Inventory, and Data teams.Use sales data to forecast performance and adjust inventory plans accordingly.Generate reports for cross-departmental use and business reviews to facilitate decision-making.Communication & Cross-Departmental Collaboration :
Set agendas and coordinate communication for the Merchandising, Inventory, and Production meetings.Prepare key reports to support discussion points and strategic decision-making across teams.Ideal Profile
Qualifications & Experience :
Proven experience in project management and / or merchandising, preferably within the retail or fashion industryStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and draw actionable insights.In-depth knowledge of retail math and its utilization in order to make informed decisions, report out on business and determine risk, opportunities and wins.Notion experience, a plusIntermediate / Advanced Google Sheets / Microsoft ExcelExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage high sku counts across multiple marketsEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and influence stakeholders.Self-motivated and adaptable, with a proactive approach to problem-solvingTechnical Skills
Proficiency in Notion for project management, task organization, collaboration, and documentation.Proficiency in Slack for effective communication, collaboration, and team coordination, including channel management, file sharing, and real-time messaging.Proficiency in GSuite for productivity, document management, and collaboration, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.Proficiency in Shopify for analyzing sales performance, creating ad hoc reporting and aiding in the weekly report out of business.Familiarity with Loom for creating and sharing video content, including screen recordings, tutorials, and presentations, to enhance communication and training within teams.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in merchandising, project management, and cross-functional team coordination. Proficiency in Notion or similar project management tools and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential. This role demands an organized, detail-oriented individual who is capable of driving processes and managing timelines to ensure the successful launch of products and the efficient management of inventory and pricing strategies.
