The Role
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve the safety policies and procedures for all trucking operations, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and other industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of vehicles, facilities, and operational practices to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
- Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring thorough analysis and reporting to prevent future occurrences.
- Develop and conduct safety training programs for drivers, dispatchers, and other employees, promoting a proactive approach to safety awareness and accident prevention.
- Track and report safety performance metrics, including accident rates, near-miss incidents, and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with management and other departments to integrate safety initiatives into all aspects of operations.
- Assist in the development and execution of a driver safety incentive program to encourage safe driving behaviors.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to trucking safety.
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to drivers and staff to ensure safety protocols are consistently followed
Ideal Profile
At least 5 years of experience in trucking safety management, with a strong understanding of DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations.Proven experience in implementing safety programs, training initiatives, and risk management strategies.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess data and make informed decisions to improve safety performance.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and motivate employees at all levels.Ability to lead by example and foster a culture of safety and accountability across the organization.Certification in safety management or related fields (e.g., CSP, SMS, or CDLP) preferred.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.What's on Offer?
